I've never been a fan of the works of Nicholas Sparks, but then again, I'm an adult male. Sparks, who wrote the novels upon which Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember, The Notebook and now Nights in Rodanthe are based, is a salesman of sentimenality -- a guy who plunders the depths of romantic desperation to create fantasies for women and women alone.
