The Express tells the story of Ernie Davis (played by Finding Forrester's Rob Brown), the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy. A native of Pennsylvania's coal mining country, Davis was a star high school running back when he was approached by none other than college superstar-turned-NFL pro Jim Brown (Darrin DeWitt Henson) to play for his alma mater Syracuse University and coach Ben Schwartzwalder (Dennis Quaid).
