SDCC 08: Knowing Alex Proyas

When it comes to noteworthy directorial debuts, there are few that are as auspicious as The Crow. An adaptation of a beloved comic book character that featured the final performance by Brandon Lee, the film instantly established Alex Proyas as a filmmaker not only with style but vision. Since then he has continued to explore fantasy landscapes in such ambitious projects as Dark City, I, Robot and the upcoming Knowing, starring Nicolas Cage. On Thursday, July 24 at the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con, IGN sat down backstage for a one-on-one interview with Proyas literally right before he was to go on stage to present his film to the public. In addition to discussing Knowing, Proyas explains why sci-fi and fantasy material appeals to him and talks about transposing philosophical ideas on his films' physical realities.
