DVD review: Never Apologize

'Malcolm, have you been to the set? I've never seen so much cock in all my life! Oh do tell me if you think they're pubescent or shaved!' Malcolm McDowell's on-stage memoir about his cinematic mentor may be billed as a tribute to Lindsay Anderson, but it's his account of John Gielgud's excitement while filming Caligula (recently released uncut for the first time in the UK) which raises the biggest laughs. Elsewhere, McDowell relives the creation of If... and O Lucky Man!, the latter of which remains the most influential yet undervalued work of modern British cinema. Bravo!
