Bruce Almighty

BBC 3 at 9:00pm (Other show times...)

Bruce Almighty

This 2003 comedy, starring Jim Carrey, has its moments but is hardly earth-shattering. Fortunately Carrey is on strong form as Bruce Nolan, a TV reporter who blames God for the worst day of his life. Surprisingly God - a great turn from Morgan Freeman - decides to grant Nolan his divine powers to see if he could do a better job.

And what does Nolan do? Vital humanitarian work, such as whipping up a few girls' skirts, teaching his dog to use the toilet, parting some tomato soup in a bowl, changing his car into a Ferrari, moving the Moon a bit closer and boosting the size of his girlfriend's breasts. But slowly Nolan comes to realise that one of his main duties is to listen and to answer peoples' prayers...
