Damages

If you missed this powerful US drama first-time round, here's a second chance to see the entire first series. A compelling legal thriller with a complex murder mystery, it stars Glenn Close (pictured), Ted Danson and Rose Byrne.

Fresh out of law school, Ellen Parsons (Byrne) is invited to an interview with Hewes & Associates, a high-profile New York City law firm led by Patty Hewes (Close), the nation's most revered and reviled high-stakes litigator. Ruthless and determined, Patty is used to getting her own way, but when the day of Ellen's interview coincides with her sister's wedding, she cancels the appointment. Interested to meet the only person stupid enough to turn her down, Patty arrives at the wedding and ends up offering Ellen the job.

Ellen is put to work on a civil suit against Arthur Frobisher (Danson), a billionaire businessman accused of an illegal stock sale that saved his own fortune but bankrupted his employees. When a thorough government investigation is unable to prove any wrong doing by Frobisher, Patty needs something to link him to the stock sale.

Bright and ambitious, Ellen soon discovers a crack that could blow the case wide open. However, as things progress, Ellen comes to suspect that her involvement in the case, and her relationship to a potential witness, might be more than just a coincidence. When she ends up involved in a gruesome murder case, she soon realises that everything is not as it seems and that lives, as well as fortunes, are at risk.

Highly recommended.

i am really cross with the bbc about the finale of damages, i have watched all 12 episodes faithfully waiting for the finale with bated breath, and what do they do put on the golf, so that it was shown later than planned and as i had set my video for it and wasn't aware it would be running late i only got the first 9 minutes!! what a lot of use that is. what am i supposed to do now? it really makes me cross yes if i was watching i would have tuned in later and caught it all but as i was away, how was my video supposed to know the difference between golf and good drama?

Why has the BBC not give a warning to viewers that "Damages" is being not being screened as nornal on Monday 10 March? The best show of the week is being stitched up with no warning or expalnation. The BBC should do better.
